About the Recipe

There’s nothing like a ginger and turmeric shot to wake up all your senses in the morning! It has a real ‘wow’ effect. The secret ingredient here is the pinch of black pepper. It will supercharge your turmeric absorption by a whopping 2000%. That’s a double ‘wow’!

Ingredients

2 oranges

1 lemon

24g fresh ginger

24g fresh turmeric

Pinch of ground black pepper

Preparation

If you’re using a juicer

  • Peel and roughly segment your oranges and lemon.

  • Peel and chop the ginger and turmeric.

  • Add to your juicer and juice.

If you’re using a high-speed blender

  • Juice your oranges and lemon.

  • Peel and chop the ginger and turmeric.

  • Add to your blender and blitz on high for 30 seconds

  • Strain away the pulp over a fine mesh strainer. You could use a clean dish towel or nut milk bag too. Remember the turmeric will stain.

You’re ready to wake up your senses

  • Divide between two shot glasses.

  • Top each with a small pinch of ground black pepper.

  • Give it a little stir. And enjoy!

  • You can keep leftovers in the fridge for 24 hours.

Top tip! You can compost any leftover pulp or freeze in an ice-cube tray and add to future smoothies.
